A New Chapter of Life!

It's been just over 2 years since I last posted, and our family has grown by 1 since then.  We now have 3 boys, 5 years and under.  Abishai is 5 years, Micaiah is 3 and a half, and Asher is 11 months old.  Now that I've started homeschooling Abishai's Kindergarten year, I want to begin blogging again––to document our journey and look back on later.  Here are a few photos of our first couple of weeks of Kindergarten.  I didn't have an official start date. I began with one subject and kept adding another over a period of days.  I didn't want to overwhelm Abishai or myself with a drastic change.  He barely noticed a change at all.   I wonder if he even knows he's learning.  He seems to just go with the flow and I am happy with that.  Sometimes the best part about learning is when you don't even know it's happening.
Abishai coloring and cutting out Denari (Roman coins) from our Bible lesson on The Woman and the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10).  We glued them onto thin cardboard so that they would be more durable.

We then did a "sweep" with paint brushes to find 10 lost coins and discover a secret message which Abishai wrote down on a piece of paper.  The message was "He Is Joyful".
This is Micaiah choosing which colour of felt he wants to make his coin pouch out of to keep his Roman coins in.  He chose blue.

 The finished product...

Later that day, Micaiah helped me to make Swish chard soup for supper. Yum!
In the evening the boys rode their bikes.  Micaiah learned to ride his two-wheeler for the first time.

In addition to the three R's (reading, writing & arithmetic), one of the things we did in our second week was shred crayons––to melt inside of wax paper. We tried to make stain glass praying hands to remind us to "always pray and never give up," which is from the Bible story of the Persistent Widow (Luke 18:1-8).  The hands didn't turn out very well, so I didn't take a picture of them.
